Transform Your Body With A Thigh And Buttocks Lift

Age and gravity can do a real number on your body over the years. If you’ve experienced significant weight changes, these effects may be even more noticeable. Perhaps you’ve noticed a bit of sagging in your buttocks, or become increasingly aware of lumps and bumps in your thighs that are difficult to tone. Maybe you’ve been eating right and exercising religiously, but have yet to see any of the desired results. You’re not alone! Keep reading to find out how you can transform your body with a thigh and buttocks lift.

As you get older and lose elasticity in your skin, it can be difficult to obtain the optimal results in your thigh and buttocks area. If you’re looking for a total transformation when you slip on a pair of jeans, Plastic Surgery Group of Memphis is proud to offer our thigh and butt lift procedure! Thigh lift surgery smooths and shapes your inner and outer thighs, while the incision used to perform the outer thigh lift can be extended to lift the buttocks as well.

How does the thigh and buttock lift procedure work?

A thigh lift removes excess skin and boosts sagging tissues. When combined with a buttock, we’re able to achieve a more comprehensive rejuvenation that can improve the shape of the entire lower body. There are two types of thigh lift:

Medial (inner) thigh lift: An incision is made in the groin area and any excess fat or skin along the inner thigh. If you need to have fat removed, we can combine liposuction with your thigh lift treatment. We will then recontour the area between the knee and groin on both inner thighs.

Lateral (outer) thigh lift: The outer thigh lift procedure is more complex as it involves recontouring larger areas of the lower body and removing more tissue. The skin is left with less elasticity after this surgery, so your weight will need to be maintained for the best results.

During a buttock lift, we’ll remove fat from your hips, lower back, thighs, and abdomen using liposuction. The extracted fat is then purified and prepped to be injected into specific points on your buttocks to improve the shape and increase volume, giving you a rounder contour and perkier profile. Not all of the injected fat will acclimate to the new location, but our doctors take this into account and inject extra fat at the time of the procedure to ensure your final results match your expectations!

The most important part of your procedure is choosing an experienced and qualified surgeon that will give you the shape you desire. You can be confident that our skilled doctors and team will provide you with superior results in a safe and comfortable environment. The thigh and buttocks lift is performed as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia or a combination of sedation and local anesthesia

What is the recovery process like?

It’s very important that you follow your surgeon’s aftercare instructions. You’ll be given clear instructions on:

  • how to care for any drains we’ve used
  • normal symptoms you will experience
  • any potential signs of complications
  • wearing a compression garment
  • any medication you need to take
  • the level of activity you can safely do at each stage of your recovery

You’ll be able to see how much smoother your legs look right away, but there will be some temporary bruising and swelling. You may also experience irritation and soreness.  After receiving a thigh lift, it can take 3-6 weeks for the swelling to go down and the soreness to completely subside. After receiving a buttocks lift, you will be instructed to avoid sitting down for at least one week. Wearing compression garments will assist in the tightening of the skin in both areas.

For the first two weeks after surgery, you should stick to light activity. Make careful and deliberate movements and keep an eye out for any signs of infection. It’s preferable to have someone stay with you for the first few days of your recovery. You can resume driving after 2-3 weeks have passed, or once it doesn’t cause you any pain. You should hold off on exercises like jogging or other strenuous physical activities until 8 weeks after the procedure has been completed.

Who is a good candidate for the thigh and buttocks lift procedure?

The thigh and buttocks lift is not a weight loss procedure, and will not reduce significant fat accumulation in the hips, thighs, or buttocks. Therefore, the best candidates are those who are healthy and relatively happy with their current body weight, but bothered by moderate to severe skin laxity or sagging tissues in the buttocks, thighs, or lower body.

This procedure has long-lasting results. As long as you keep up a healthy lifestyle and avoid any larger weight losses or gains, you can expect to maintain your new shape for 10-20 years. Over time, the normal aging process will still cause relaxation of the tissues, so it’s important to have realistic expectations for both the surgery and the results. The extent of relaxation and the time it will take for that to occur depends mainly on the elasticity of the skin. Avoiding sun exposure, smoking, and shifts in weight will help increase the length of time your results will last.
