Plastic Surgery Group of Memphis
Plastic Surgeons in Memphis, TN
The late Robert Reeder began the Plastic Surgery Group of Memphis in 1973. Since that time the group’s membership has grown to seven physicians and a physician’s assistant. In spite of its size, the group still treats every patient with individual attention and caring.
The skin care and laser department is staffed by three nurse-aestheticians with over 20 years experience. Surgeries requiring intravenous sedation or general anesthesia are performed at certified outpatient surgery centers or hospitals.
The American Board of Plastic Surgery, one of the 24 boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), certifies all our doctors.
When you are considering plastic surgery procedures, please be careful that you choose a qualified plastic surgeon. In the United States, doctors who have done as little as one year of post medical school training can that say they perform “plastic surgery.” Their website may say they are “board certified,” but by which board? Do you want to have plastic surgery done by a gastroenterologist or pediatrician?
Board certified plastic surgeons, however, have had at least three years of surgical training prior to two or three years devoted exclusively to plastic surgery. Members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons must accrue 50 hours of continuing medical education each and every year.
