Breast Lift

Overview

As women age, the skin of the breasts may lose some of its elasticity, causing a sagging appearance. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, and genetics can all have a significant impact on the breasts. Many women consider breast lift surgery when their breasts become pendulous, lose firmness, or have nipples that point downwards.

What is a breast lift?

Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, removes excess skin and tightens the surrounding tissue to raise and reshape the breasts. The kind of volume changes associated with pregnancy, nursing, and substantial weight loss can often cause additional breast sag, and potentially compromise the results of a lift. For this reason, it may be advisable to undergo breast lift surgery only after weight loss, childbearing, and breastfeeding are finished in order to achieve optimal, long-lasting, and superior results.

Women that have some degree of volume loss and skin laxity who want to rejuvenate the look and feel of sagging breasts can achieve excellent results with a breast lift. Women whose breasts are affected by gravity, aging, or genetic influences will also benefit from a breast lift. The ideal candidate for a breast lift generally includes a woman:

  • who is near her ideal weight
  • who is finished with childbearing and breastfeeding
  • whose nipples and areolas point downward
  • who is in reasonably good health

Types of breast lifts

After a thorough examination and discussion with our doctors, we will be able to determine if you are a good candidate for a breast lift. If you are, we will be able to recommend a lift type or combination procedure that is best suited for you and your particular needs.

The various types of breast lift include:

Periareolar mastopexy

In the periareolar mastopexy, the surgeon will make an incision around the entire areola. This will be the only incision necessary to tighten the breast, allowing less scarring since incisions on the edge of the areola are concealed. However, this technique is not effective in achieving significant tightening, so it is a better choice for patients with limited breast sagging.

“Lollipop Incision” (Short Horizontal Scar Technique)

The lollipop, or short scar technique, uses two incisions that somewhat resemble a lollipop. One is around the areola, and one goes vertically from the areola to the breast crease. Occasionally, there is a small horizontal component in the crease below the breast. This technique eliminates the larger anchor-shaped scar that results from traditional breast lifts, leaving less scarring in general for an aesthetic and lasting result. This technique can be utilized for moderate sagging.

Full Mastopexy (Anchor Type Incision)

This is a traditional breast lift, and it is used primarily for larger-breasted women who have severe to extreme sagging. It is the most extensive mastopexy procedure, selected when there is too much skin to be removed through more limited incisions.

Combination Breast Procedure

All of these breast lift techniques can be combined with a breast augmentation. In this type of procedure, breast implants are added for a fuller and more enhanced appearance. Implants can be an excellent complement to a breast lift for many women. During your evaluation, we will explain all the risks and benefits associated with these combination surgeries to help you determine the options that best fit your needs.

During any breast lift procedure, one of our surgeons will lift and reshape underlying breast tissue, reposition the nipple and areola, reduce enlarged areolas if necessary,  and remove any excess breast skin. We aim to provide a natural-looking result with minimal scarring.

Recovering from a breast lift

It’s common to experience temporary bruising or swelling after a breast lift procedure, but this will typically subsides as recovery progresses. Resting for the remainder of the day surgery is performed is recommended, but light activities can usually be resumed within a few days. Exercise and more strenuous activities will need to be avoided for a few weeks. Over the course of a few months, the shape and position of the breasts will gradually settle into place, and incision lines will fade, leaving women to enjoy a more rejuvenated and shapely breast appearance with restored firmness.

Chin Implant

Overview

A small chin can make your face appear imbalanced and your nose seem larger.

You can improve this by inserting a chin implant. Implants come in different sizes and we can trim them further to customize their appearance.

Swelling of the chin and lower lip can take 1-2 weeks to resolve with your final result apparent at three months.

Chin implants surgery can be combined with either liposuction or a face-lift to improve the contour of the front of your neck.

Brazilian Butt Lift

Overview

The Brazilian butt lift is a popular way to talk about a procedure that combines liposuction and fat grafting to reshape the buttocks.

By taking fat from the waist area, outer thighs, and underneath the buttocks then preparing it and injecting it into the central buttocks, the cheeks can be made rounder, perkier, and project more.

BBL Procedure
6-Month Post Op

You avoid the risks involved in buttocks implants (like displacement or infection) because we use your body's own fat. Successful results are very dependent on the technique.

Never have foreign substances such as silicone injected because catastrophic results have been reported. Recovery from the Brazilian butt lift takes about 1-2 weeks, and you'll see your final results in 3-6 months.

Why Have a Brazilian Butt Lift?

The proportion and shape of your buttocks are determined by genetics; your skeletal structure and how your body stores fat influence how all parts of your body look, including your lower body. While diet and exercise can help you maintain healthy body weight and muscle tone, you might still be unhappy if your buttocks appear to be flat and lacks shape.

Brazilian butt lift surgery from Memphis Plastic Surgery Group can help you overcome your genes by reshaping your buttock and hips, lower back, and thighs.

Brazilian Butt Lift Benefits

A Brazilian butt lift can:

  • Enhance curves
  • Reduce fat pockets
  • Improve clothing fit
  • More youthful appearance.
  • Improve proportion by improving the balance between your upper and lower body.

What’s Involved in Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery?

A Brazilian butt lift involves three basic steps:

  • We’ll remove fat from your hips, lower back, thighs, abdomen, and/or other areas with liposuction.
  • The extracted fat is purified and prepped to be transferred.
  • Our cosmetic surgeon will inject fat into specific points on your buttocks to improve the shape and increase volume.

This surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure. We use general anesthesia or a combination of sedation and local anesthesia.

Not all of the injected fat will acclimate to the new location, but your cosmetic surgeon at Memphis Plastic Surgery Group will be sure to take this into account. They’ll inject extra fat into your buttock to make sure your final goals match your expectation and desire.

Differences Between Brazilian Butt Lift and Butt Implants

A significant advantage to the Brazilian butt lift surgery from Memphis Plastic Surgery Group is the fact that it increases size without implants. It can be risky to put anything synthetic into your buttocks, so this treatment doesn’t have the same risks as implants.

When performed by a specially trained cosmetic surgeon in an accredited facility, the procedure is unlikely to have a complication and can look and feel incredibly natural.

If you’re very lean, you might not have enough fat to transfer, making implants your only option to achieve the results you’re looking for.

While implants can be an okay option, don’t forget the risk that comes with implants, such as capsular contracture and a higher risk for infection.

Buttock implants might also look and feel unnatural in comparison to a well-executed Brazilian butt lift.

Arm Lift

Overview

An arm lift (brachioplasty) reshapes your upper arms to trim excess skin and fat.

Aging or large weight loss can result in loss of support in the upper arm, even after toning exercises.

Arm lift scars usually need to run the length of the upper arm but are placed in less conspicuous areas.

Loose skin that extends into the armpit can also be trimmed. You can also get liposuction with your arm lift.

Your recovery takes 1-2 weeks and you'll probably need to wear a compression garment for six weeks.
