Facelift Procedure

Overview

Facelift (rhytidectomy) treats the looseness of skin and displacement of fat that occurs with aging. In youth the face is full with fat pads situated just below the cheekbones. As we age the fat descends producing the jowls (fat mounds on or just below the jaw line).

Skin of the cheeks and neck become loose. In the past face-lifts merely tightened the skin giving a wind swept unnatural appearance. The modern face-lift seeks to restore fat to its youthful location and judiciously tighten the skin Scars are hidden in front and behind the ear. Recovery takes about 2 weeks with the final results visible in about 3 months.
